The Upcycler’s Dream: How to Score the Best Materials for Your Next DIY Project!
Calling all weekend warriors, backyard builders, and Pinterest-inspired creators! We all know that rustic, reclaimed wood aesthetic is incredibly popular right now—from outdoor garden planters and vertical herb walls to custom coffee tables and cozy bed frames. But buying fresh lumber for every project can get expensive fast.
If you’re constantly typing “pallets near me free” into your search bar, you are not alone! The thrill of the hunt is part of the fun. But before you grab the first wooden skid you see sitting by a dumpster, here is a crucial pro-tip for your safety: Always check the stamp! 🔍
If you are planning to build something for inside your home or a garden bed for growing food, you want to look for the “HT” stamp. This means the wood was Heat Treated, making it safe and chemical-free. If you see an “MB” stamp (Methyl Bromide), leave it behind—that means it was treated with highly toxic chemicals.
We love seeing our local community get creative with sustainable materials. Occasionally, we have odd-sized or slightly damaged units that are no longer fit for industrial logistics but are absolutely perfect for your next rustic masterpiece.
